HOW TO PRAY IN HEBREW
J. ALDUNATE · ENGLISH EDITION

BEGIN WITH UNDERSTANDING

A first step into a
living language of prayer.

You do not need to be fluent to begin. Start with the alphabet, learn what a blessing says, and discover the stories and communities behind the words.

This book brings reading practice and cultural context together. Jewish liturgy is presented in its own setting, with Christian engagement discussed separately and clearly.

ONE WORD TO BEGIN

Peace, read
from the right.

Hebrew is read from right to left. The vowel marks help give the consonants a voice. In the book, each selected prayer pairs Hebrew with a reading aid and an English translation.

A CLEAR EDITORIAL APPROACH

Faithful to context.
Honest about the limits.

Jewish and Christian contexts distinguished

Shared scriptures and words are explored without treating the two traditions as interchangeable. Modern Hebrew translations of Christian prayers are not presented as recovered ancient originals.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

A few useful answers.

Do I need to know Hebrew already?

No. The course begins with letters and vowel signs. Transliteration supports early reading, while exercises help you move toward the Hebrew itself.

Is this a complete Jewish prayer book?

No. It is an educational guide with complete short prayers and clearly identified excerpts. Use a community-appropriate siddur for full services, seasonal additions, and ritual instructions.

Does the appendix contain the full Torah?

Yes, the complete five-book Hebrew verse text from UXLC 2.6, including source vowels, cantillation, and explicit qere/ketiv readings. It does not include an English translation, the full Masorah, or a manuscript facsimile. Automated checks confirm all chapter and verse counts against the publisher’s index.

Does it include audio or video?

No. This edition is an illustrated PDF. Pronunciation aids cannot represent every living reading tradition, and guided listening with a teacher remains valuable.

Can I buy it now?
